HELLO, MY NAME IS ABIGALE WATSON
I’m a mechanical engineer who recently graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, along with minors in Physics and Aerospace. Over the past six years, I worked as a research assistant in the University of New Hampshire's Physics Department, where I co-authored four research papers, three of which focused on solar wind turbulence observed by the Ulysses spacecraft. During this time, I also contributed to the building and deployment of magnetometers through the SWUG project at UNH, which enhanced my hands-on technical skills and provided valuable experience in experimental design.
I completed two internships at Raytheon Missiles and Defense, where I worked as both an environmental test engineer and a mechanical engineer. These roles allowed me to develop a strong foundation in systems testing, product design, and defense technology.
For my senior capstone project, I worked with a team of peers to develop a Wildland breathing apparatus (W.A.R.). The device's housing was entirely 3D printed, and I played a key role in creating the electronics system, specifically designing the circuit board for the unit. This project showcased my ability to collaborate effectively and apply engineering principles to real-world problems.
I’m passionate about continuous learning and constantly seek opportunities to acquire new skills, particularly in real-world, on-the-job settings. Whether it's mastering new software, learning from colleagues, or diving into new technologies, I am committed to growing both professionally and personally. I look forward to contributing to projects that have a lasting impact on society and the environment while continuously expanding my knowledge and expertise.
